In memory of Jean Moore

On Saturday 29th June approximately 20 of Jean Moore’s family braved the thunder, lightning and heavy rain to embark on their sponsored walk.  The majority of the family walked the full 11 miles from Hazelbank, Whiteabbey to Carrickfergus Castle and back.

The sponsored walk was organised by the grandchildren in memory of their nanny who sadly passed away on 3rd March 2019 after a short illness.  Jean lived with a brain tumour for 30 or more years and the family found great support from the Brainwaves charity.  Jean and her husband Eric met other families through the charity and various event and stayed in contact with them over the years.  Therefore, they decided they would donate the money from this walk to brainwaves as the family stated “brainwaves have always helped and supported Jean and the family along the way and we are so grateful or everything they have done”.

The family raised a fabulous £2.000.15 and they presented the cheque at Hazelbank to committee member Julie Adams.
