Committee Member – Sylvia Watt
In May 2010 my husband Alan was diagnosed with a very aggressive Oligoastrocytoma Grade 3 malignant brain tumour. He received 30 days of radiotherapy and some chemotherapy but sadly passed away in March 2011. Since then my family have organised and supported a number of fundraising events for the charity.
In 2017, I became a committee member of Brainwaves NI to try to help other families who had received the same devastating news as ours. Whilst on the committee I have noticed that quite a few of the charity’s members were from the Mid Ulster area so I decided to help to form a sub group in this area to bring together families locally. The first meeting was held in Cookstown in October 2018 and the response has been very positive and meetings are held regularly.
