Knock Golf Club – Charity of the Year
Eve McCracken is the Ladies Captain at Knock Golf Club, Upper Newtownards Road and she has selected BrainwavesNI as her charity for the year. Eve’s sister sadly passed away with an undiagnosed brain tumour when they were both quite young.
The first fundraising incentive Eve set up was to dedicate a bunker on the course as the ‘Brainwaves Bunker’. Anyone who hits a ball into this bunker must make a donation to the charity. Hopefully this raises some money but hopefully not everyone hits into this bunker every time they are playing the course.
The first big event Eve organised was a fashion show held at the golf club on Monday 29th April. All the clothing was provided by a local women’s clothes shop in Newtownards called Lulu Blu. The ticket included wine and canapes and of course an opportunity to see the latest clothing available at the store.
Pamela Ballentine very kindly offered to do compere for the evening and our very own secretary Gordon Dickson attended the event to speak about the charity and help with the raffles at the end of the evening.
A very enjoyable evening was had by those who attended. As we are their charity for the year Eve will be keeping the total for all events until the end of the year.
The next event Eve has planned is sponsored four ball day to be held on Saturday 8th August. More details on this to follow.
