Committee Member – Lauren Monaghan
My name is Lauren Monaghan, and I live in Ballymoney. I was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma (brain tumour) when I was 12 years old. I had 2 surgeries, the second leaving me with multiple life-altering conditions (including a stroke) and I now have to take a mountain of tablets daily! Having proton therapy in America has kept my tumour stable and I’m very thankful to my Mum, who is my carer, and to St Jude Children’s Cancer Research Hospital, Memphis who looked after me through my clinical trials. I struggled through my school years due to lethargy, illness and brain fog. I managed to achieve my A-levels and am now studying Computer Science at Magee!
I know what it’s like to go through a brain tumour diagnosis, so I’m happy to help anyone who would like to talk.
