Brainwaves NI is Northern Ireland’s only volunteer led brain tumours research and support charity

Research is fundamental to finding a cure for brain tumour. We have a strong relationship with the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research, Queen’s University, Belfast.

Over the last number of years we have provided over £500,000 funding towards that vital research.

Secretary
I will be your first port of call when contacting Brainwaves NI and will point patients in the right direction. We at Brainwaves NI are here to help.

My name is Michaela Chambers and I have been secretary for Brainwaves NI since January 2020. Due to the sudden loss of my husband in 2017, I was unable to go back to my full-time employment as I had to care for my daughter Rebecca who was 3 years old at the time. My Dad was also unwell and in and out of hospital a lot for many years. Unfortunately, my Dad passed away in September 2019 from Cancer.

I was looking for a new challenge and noticed an advert from Brainwaves NI, for a secretary and felt it would be a good opportunity for me to do something positive. Although I do not have experience of brain tumours, since starting with Brainwaves NI I have learnt a great deal. I feel great empathy from the loss of family members and know the heartache of caring for someone who has a long-term illness.
