Brainwaves NI is Northern Ireland’s only volunteer led brain tumours research and support charity

Research is fundamental to finding a cure for brain tumour. We have a strong relationship with the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research, Queen’s University, Belfast.

Over the last number of years we have provided over £500,000 funding towards that vital research.

In May 2010 my husband Alan was diagnosed with a very aggressive Oligoastrocytoma Grade 3 malignant brain tumour.  He received 30 days of radiotherapy and some chemotherapy but sadly passed away in March 2011.  Since then my family have organised and supported a number of fundraising events for the charity.

In 2017, I became a committee member of Brainwaves NI to try to help other families who had received the same devastating news as ours.

I helped to form a subgroup of members in the Mid Ulster area to enable those members to connect with each other and hopefully those meetings/events will continue in the future.
